The library has several notaries on staff. Due to varying schedules, we recommend you contact the library and speak directly with a notary on the morning, afternoon, or evening you plan to come in to verify if they will be available. Appointments are not available.
For notary service, the document and signer must meet the following requirements:
- All individuals who will sign the document must be present at the time of notarizing.
- A valid, unexpired government-issued photo identification is required for every request for notarization.
- All pages of the document to be notarized must be present.
- The signature field and date on the document must be blank; all other fields in the document must be complete.
- If a witness to the signing is required, it is recommended that the person requesting the notarization provide the witness; due to scheduling library staff may not be available to serve as witnesses. The required witness must be present at the time of signing. A notary cannot also serve as a witness.
- Notary Public Services are available during regular business hours until 30 minutes before closing if a notary is available.
- The Notary will not provide service if needed time to complete all documents is not available or if the customer, document or circumstances of the request for Notary service raise any issue of authenticity, ambiguity, doubt or uncertainty. In this event, the Notary may, at his/her sole discretion, decline to provide Notary Services.
If there are any questions please contact the library and speak directly with a notary.
